To me, most of these are great. There is only one that I really dislike... Hoola. I know, I know. Lots of people out there absolutely love it, but it's probably my least favorite bronzer ever. That's a whoooole other story.
But back to the positives, most of the shades are really wearable and flattering. I think overall, the formulas are great too. If I had to choose an all-time favorite, it would have to be Dallas...
Surprisingly followed by this new one.
Yes, it's fabulous.
Don't miss my full review (and some possible downfalls) at the bottom of the post.
This is how Benefit describes it...
Our famously provocative cheek powder in rockin' rose gold gives a show-stopping "rush of heat." For an encore, the sexy sculpted design is accented in gold.
It comes with the little brush as they always do, but I find this one is actually pretty good! Over the years, they've changed them from the oldest "squared-off" and very stiff brushes that I absolutely hate, to these soft and rounded ones that I actually can use with the product and really like!
Here's what it looks like on. Very natural! It's a pretty rosy flush.
So I've already told you guys I love it, but here are all my thoughts...
So basically, I think the product is totally deceiving in the packaging. All the golden, frosty shimmer is downright scary where blush is concerned. Especially since this product is marketed as a blush and not really as a highlighter. Most people aren't into heavily frosted blush. I think some people may decide to pass on this product at first glance because of that.
However, if you actually TRY it on your skin (not just swatching it on your fingers), you'll find the finish is actually really natural and flattering. I find that most of the time, blush that has a bit of a sheen to it (not heavy or anything) actually reads more natural on your skin. Rather than a totally matte formula which can sometimes look fake and chalky.
The color is pretty perfect too. A really pretty and warm rosy shade that I think would work on most skin tones. It also smells fabulous.
So long story short, I basically love it.
Rockateur will retail for $28 and will be available in September 2013.
What do you guys think? Will you be checking it out?? What is YOUR favorite Benefit boxed powder?

The shimmer is definitely scary looking, but it looks gorgeous non the less๐๐
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of this!

I will definitely be purchasing this when it comes out! I LOVE the benefit boxed powders. I would say my favorites are Georgia and Hoola! This looks gorgeous, thanks for the heads up!!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the picture, I thought you'd be giving this a bad review; all that shimmer really is a turn off. But after reading this, I think I'll definitely try it out!
ReplyDeleteI honestly did too! I was SO disappointed when I looked inside for the first time. Just shows that swatching and what a product looks like doesn't really matter. You've got to try it on your skin for real!
DeleteIt looks lovely, the only problem I have is the amount of blush in the box'o blushes seems to be getting less and less with each new realise.Rockateur only has 5g of product! But it's still the same price as their other blushes (which seem to vary from 12g-8g).I think Benefit are trying to pull a fast one...
ReplyDeleteI agree. 5g of product for the price feels like a rip off to me. A shame really because its such a beautiful color. :(
DeleteI agree,if they packaged it differently it wouldn't seem as back-handed but they pass it off in the same size box as the others,a bit dishonest i think,as a Benefit lover(so many of they're products i can't even count) i feel disappointed by this.
DeleteI COMPLETELY agree. When I first saw Rocketeur I thought it was gorgeous, shimmer and all! Seeing swatches absolutely makes me itch for it. BUT, the fact that I had no idea that there was so much less product in the same box (and I didn't even realize it til I read comments about it) is extremely off-putting. I am completely disappointed in Benefit. First off, it definitely seems like a sneaky move, and I hate sneakiness. Second off, I''m pretty sure we all know that benefit is quite a successful company, so why they feel the need to sell this product for the same amount of $$ with much less product is beyond me. Seems greedy as well. Sneaky+greedy=me not buying it. I have and love the Dallas box blush as well as a few other benefit products so I am not trying to bad mouth the brand, but this definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'll have to pass on this blush and hope I can find something similar, since it is just so gorgeous. =(
DeleteWhen they posted about it on FB I got really excited, now I really am! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeletethis is absolutely stunning, i love colors like this! benefit does it again (:

I love Benefit's packaging/products and if they didn't test on animals, I would totally try this out, it's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBenefit does NOT test on animals. I don't know where you heard that.
DeleteI love anything rose gold so think I'll be giving this a try!

thanks tiffany! i saw it on hsn last week and was soooo close to ordering it but the glitter it what stopped me...now you've changed my mind!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you recommending to try it and not dismiss off of looks alone. Don't just a blush by its glitter? :) Would you mind comparing this to Warm Soul? It seems very similar.
ReplyDeleteGlad they have finally improved the brush they give with their blushes/bronzers. I don't normally go for pinky colours but I think I just might have to try this!

It all looks great! Hey Tiffany, I had a quick question for you, me and my sister live 12 hours apart so in order for us to stay close we created a blog together, would love for you to take a look, its http://kalmsis.wordpress.com. I would love to get your advice on how to get going with a new blog. Also, I started a youtube channel but I am brand new to it, how do you change the main pic you want for your videos, like thumbnail that u see when you first see the video?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much,
Kim P
I hate hoola too! way too orange for my taste! I don't have any of the other Benefit boxed powders but I have had my eye on Dandelion and Hervana for ages.

Would it look good on mature skin?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review! When I was in the market for a good everyday blush, I was thinking that I was going to get Coralista, as I've heard so many good things about it, but when I got to Ulta, the Brow Bar lady actually tried Dallas on me and I love it! I think Coralista would be too light for me - I'm on the darker side of medium with yellow undertones.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks pretty! From the swatch, it kind of looks similar to Nars' Orgasm? What would you compare this to or is it in a ballpark of it's own?
ReplyDeleteI'll be passing on this one. While the color looks great on you, I just can't get past the packaging. The packaging feels cheap to me, and this is not a cheap product. Boxes are ok for a $6 Hard Candy Fox in a Box...not for a $28 Benefit blush.
ReplyDeleteI used to work for Benefit and loved their blushes but I found that the looks were always so deceiving. They always look completely different on. This looks like a shimmery nightmare more of a highlight then a actual blush but if you apply it it's actually a lot more subtle then it looks.
ReplyDeleteYou really need to wear it to truly see how it looks.

I don't have any of the Benefit boxed powders yet, but I will definitely be picking up this one. This looks gorgeous on!

It is gorgeous! I will definitely purchase it :D xo Kelly http://chicnstylishblog.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI love this, I think I am one of the only people that love metallic blushes but I can wear them to the office so I think this is awesome. When I want to look office appropriate I can wear it like you showed, when I want to look metallic awesome I can layer it on.
ReplyDeleteWow! It swatches way different than what it looks. It's gorgeous though, very pretty on you!!

wow this is a very nice color!

Looks gorgeous! Will have to try it! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I love rose gold colours and am also a bit of a highlighter/shimmer powder addict, so a blush combining both of these looks like a winner to me!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! I haven't tried any Benefit box blushes yet, but really want to. Maybe I'll give this one a try?
ReplyDeleteI love how shimmery it is!! And the colour is just gorgeous :)
