MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Collection

So today I'm starting the week off with all the details on a few new MAC collections (Riri MAC Summer coming up next!)
Although this collection of eyeshadows came out last week, this new formula is a part of the permanent line, so you can definitely get your hands on them if you're interested.

So first, the details on the Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadows...

Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow
Available June 20th, 2013
PERMANENT
$40. each

Each palette contains 5 shades. The formula is described by MAC as as being a "creamy and lightweight hybrid offering two distinctive effects: applied wet for a super saturation of color that glistens with metallic brilliance, or dry for sheer coverage with a soft, sparkling finish."
While I think some of the shades that look a bit less metallic are actually very soft and pigmented, some of the more metallic shades come off as a bit flaky and less pigmented.
I swatched each palette both dry and wet, and with most of these shades, I definitely think applying them wet is the way to go.
See what you think!

Brownluxe

Pastelluxe

Greenluxe

Bleuluxe

*I got a bit ahead of myself while swatching, so on the "wet" swatch, the last two colors are switched.

So what are your thoughts?? My least favorite of the whole bunch is the Pastelluxe. It looks gorgeous in the container, but I find that it's a bit chunky.  Applying them wet really didn't make a huge difference, either.
Strangely, the Bleuluxe really didn't appear different at all swatched wet compared to dry. My favorites from this collection out of the products I have are definitely the Brownluxe and Greenluxe. The shades are really pigmented, wet or dry, and most of the shades apply very smooth.

What stands out to you? Have you guys picked up any of these yet??

  3. The greenluxe palette is beautiful! I've followed your blog for quite a while and hardly ever comment... but today I wanted to ask if you could do a tutorial including one of these eyeshadows and show us how to do a wet application. These palettes are great.

  4. i ordered brownluxe and smokeluxe.. i reallllyyyyyy wanted to love blueluxe but seeing swatches on blogs has really deterred me from getting it.... the colors are so pretty though! i might get greenluxe, although it doesn't seem very green to me... the last shade looks like brown blue only in pressed form to me.

  5. Wow, I'm surprised that the dry swatches look so cheap. Wet swatches are gorgeous but I'd probably never wear them dry. Brownluxe actually reminds me of a few UD Naked shades. Very pretty.

  7. While they're all very pretty, I would only want to apply them wet...and that is just an extra step I am not interested in. Fun to look at though!

  9. I like brownluxe and I thought that I would like pastel luxe, but the swatches on that one are so sheer!

  10. Brownluxe is gorgeous! I agree, though the Pastelluxe looks very sheer and almost fairy-ish with the shimmer and pastel colors. Not good.

  11. thank you so much for the swatches. when i got the news about these palettes, i was obsessed to get them but luckily they seem nothing that special to rush to the counter and spend my hard-earned money on :) phew :D

  12. I would not pay $40 for any of them. Talk about overpriced... I'm not a huge fan of the 'shiny-ness' or the lack of pigmentation when swatched dry :S

  14. Brownluxe is beautiful! I don't like the Pastelluxe either; how would you wear it without it looking too bright and shimmery? Can you do a tutorial with the Brownluxe?!

  15. I'm liking the look of Brown luxe - would be perfect for me since I love neutral shades for every day wear!

  16. I think I agree with you on the Brown and Green being the best but I do enjoy a good blue palette too! I wish the pastel had better pay off cause in the picture of all the palettes together it was immediately my favorite, but what's the point of having a bunch of pretty eyeshadows that you never wear.

  21. I completely agree with you Tiffany.. The brownluxe and greenluxe are def my favorites! I'm really loving the brownluxe though. Do these compare at all to the milani ones? I can't remember what it's called, but a friend of mine @ mac said they were similar. I didn't really know what she was talking about until I went to the drugstore.
