And then I went inside and apparently became a different person.
At my Target location, it wasn't "madness" by any means. Well, there was one intense woman that literally stood outside the doors for 20 minutes prior to the store opening (I guess we weren't any better because we were eating our breakfast watching her dedication from the car...) who promptly went into the store when the doors opened, grabbed a shopping cart, and starting JOGGING toward the section of goods. She was also at least 10 months pregnant, which made her that much more intense. On another note, I applaud you, pregnant power-walkers.
Anyway...
So my friend and I followed the woman (but at a much slower pace) to the back of our store to the larger than expected section of goodies.
For a moment it was just us three and then others started pouring in.
These were my original "needs" from this collection...

Yes, that is a lunchbox and thermos. It's by Tory Burch. I'm not ashamed to say that's the only reason I wanted it. Because who doesn't need a lunchbox and thermos?? I had convinced myself it was a practical purchase, but then I saw them in person and the love just wasn't there, ya know? I didn't want to force it. So I walked away from those little guys.
Then I checked out the Lela Rose top I had my eye on. I tried it on and wasn't in love with it either. I wish it looked more lacy and less floral. At $69.99 I just couldn't justify it unless I was super into it. And I wasn't.
So I moved on to the children's collection. O. M. G. Cutest little girls' dresses EVER. I picked this one up by Marchesa and decided to put it in my cart.
Then I saw the $99 price tag and decided my invisible, imaginary 1 year old daughter of the future just wasn't that fancy.
So what items DID I buy, you wonder?? Some unexpected home stuff...
This set of 4 sweet little dessert plates with 18k gold rim by Tracy Reese. ($39.99)
They came in a cute little box I kept for storage when I'm not using them.
But seriously, how cute?? I love that they're all unique. I added them to our dining room table right when I got home and fell even more in love with them. I like the layered look of the charger, dinner plate, and dessert plate in different styles.
I also purchased what was my "splurge of the day"... or week. Or basically month, since this was my last "hoorah" before going on my December "no buy". See how I did that? Yeah, I mean, since this was the 1st, it basically didn't count. Plus I had been planning it that way. So, bam. Justified.
HUGE tray by Altuzarra. $79.99. Yeah, it was expensive, but it's HUGE. ...and very heavy. And again, totally justified because since our coffee table top is tufted, it requires a tray for knick-knacks and assorted tchotchkies. Both of which are actual words, btw.
But I'm super happy with it. I love the gold detailing and the faux-croc textured inside (with tempered glass over it). It feels really nice and sturdy. Yes, trays can be sturdy... right?
I love that it's big enough to style one side with some stacked books and still have room on the other for something else. Like knick-knacks and tchotchkies.
As for the clothing (which I expected to spend the most on), I was impressed, but not impressed. The items were nice, but either fit terribly or were way too expensive for what they were. So that was a little disappointing. Other than that, it was actually a fun collection to shop! Very random and different items. Really pretty pieces.
So tell me... What did YOU guys pick up? Anything you have your eye on??
I really like that Target does these collaborations, but I just don't have that kind of money to spend.
ReplyDeleteI totally knew you get the Tory Burch Lunchbox. ;-)
So cool to see those name brands at Target for such decent prices! And by decent I mean "cheaper than they'd be at NM but still barely affordable". I think I'd buy a lunch box if it were Tory Burch though. :) Those dessert plates seem like a great deal though! Awesome buy!

I kind of expected more. I was well disappointed. I expected something more from Tory Burch, items she is known for. I did not purchase anything. I was up at 1am thinking everything would be sold out online and still a supply. Had to go to my local target for household items and people were just walking by, no gobs of people to get the stuff, no huge lines. Have to say this collaboration was not a hit. I was hell bent on the Oscar de la Renta tote. $59 for a painted canvas tote, just couldn't do it and was not as elegant as what his designs are known for.
ReplyDeleteThose plates are gorgeous!

I'll admit I went kind of crazy with this collection lol I also purchased the dessert plates and the tray. In addition I bought the cocktail shaker and the matching tumblers to go with the tray. I also got the Marc Jacobs scarf for my sister. In all I felt like most of the collection is really good quality and I was surprised that my local target carried the entire collection.
ReplyDeleteI think its great that they do collabs like this, but can't help to think they aren't of the quality that an actual product had it actually been at Neimans.. nonetheless for someone on a lesser budget its great! Great purchases!

They are available at both Neiman Marcus & Target.
DeleteOmg that little girl's dress is soooooooooo adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the tray you picked out! :) I'm thinking about picking up the Rag & Bone shot glasses. And maybe a doggie bowl or two!
ReplyDeleteI went right for the TB lunch box too, but when I had it in my hand I wasn't really feeling it. Then I thought, I totally need DVF stationary, but since 99.9% of my correspondence is via email, I put that back too. All in all there were some cute things, but nothing that I couldn't live without. So I found the red velvet cupcakes ( holla) and called it a morning;-)
ReplyDeleteI picked some cute stuff too... I have posted on my blog but for starters desert plates, stationary set, travel bags n trinket box to name a few. Oh and a jewelry box too!!!
ReplyDeleteI didnt like anything. I did not purchase anything.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Tory Burch pieces, the Brian Atwood gloves & the Proenza Schuler sweatshirt. I am thinking of ordering the dessert plates as my Target didn't carry the full line. The tray you picked up is fab!!! Sadly my store didn't have it. There were a few of us milling about but no mobs...I was a little surprised.
ReplyDeletethe plates are so beautiful!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the plates! I loved them online and love them more now they're at home. I really like how you've styled them. Also the tray! I did end up grabbing the Lela Rose top. Expensive, but so unlike anything I own. I ordered the MJ scarf online this morning when I couldn't sleep, but I think it'll be going back. Way too expensive for what it is.

Not so impressed. I went tonight and expected the place to be sold out like when Missoni/Target collaborated but there before my eyes were fully stocked shelves of all items. I picked up the black tray that you purchased and was surprised by how large it actually is and it is also very heavy which is good. I didn't buy anything. :/
ReplyDeleteThose desert plates are so cute! Do they "feel cheap" or do you think they are of good quality? My sister is getting married soon and she would love this for a gift! Good finds...as usual :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the Marchesa girl's dress. I thought it was so stunning and I plan to have my flower girl wear it for my June wedding.
ReplyDeleteI always love your home decor! May I ask where you purchased those Christmas tree cones sitting on your ottoman tray?
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to be a nagger, but the commenter below me obviously didn't read your post because Tiffany walked away from the Tory Burch lunchbox set, meaning, she didn't buy it! Love how u have the plates set up. You have great taste!
ReplyDeleteActually it was the first comment at the top. No big deal, but still. so lame not to read the whole post before commenting. LOL
ReplyDeletecool stuff!
ReplyDeleteI want those desert plates!
ReplyDeleteugh ! i totally missed the ball on this one and am going today. did the dessert plates come with those napkins?? looks so lovely!

Did anybody else notice that she said "she must have been atleast 10 months pregnant"? It isn't possible to be 10 months pregnant lol.... xD silly Tiffany.
ReplyDeleteI audibly LOLed when I read the "10 months pregnant" part.
DeleteI was very disappointed with this collection and didn't buy anything. I must not be alone because our Target is still fully stocked three days later. yikes
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny!. Tiffany ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have found your blog. Ive been at it for awhile now and its hard to get people to follow it, but its so worth it. I was so curious about the new line so it was so helpful to read your blog. Thanks So much!
ReplyDeletehi Tiffany . love your videos ,please more home decor, home tour again. thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany! I love your videos and I love your dog too, he's so cute!! I love watching him when you do a lush haul because he will just come and sniff.

Okay I never really comment on stuff but the comment by Danahe Pelcastre just irked me... You are actually suppose to be pregnant for 10 months. 39-40 weeks is full term. 4 weeks a month x 10 months = 40! Tiffany isn't silly, you are. Mmmkkk... I bought the leopard Derek Lam slippers and they are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteRight, but does anyone actually say "10 months pregnant"? I thought it was a joke, and I found it really funny.
DeleteOn the flip side of that coin, it irks me when people really think someone can be 10 months pregnant. There are 4.5 weeks in a month (except February). 4.5 X 10 months is 45 weeks. Humans are only pregnant for 9 months.
DeleteObviously what Tiffany said was a joke. To mean the woman was REALLY pregnant.
On another note, Tiffany...looooove your charger plates. Where did you get them?
Those napkin holders! OMG!!! Heaven!!!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteMAC GIVEAWAY going on right now! tinyurl.com/cxbvpjr
lipstickandponytails.com
I was hyped for the purchase thinking they would be sold out and waited up to buy online. I received my purchases and have started returning some of what I bought:
ReplyDeleteThe Good
Best Buys: The Judith Leiber Mirrors, well made, the crystals are beautiful, and though expensive on a middle class budget for $59.99 when compared to Judith Leiber purses that run $2000 and up, I am happy to own a mirror at that price.
The leather gloves are by Atwood are wonderful! The butter soft leather feels nice and the price is on par with decent leather gloves. They are lined in nylon which they could of lined in a better material but they are great to vamp up an outfit on a chilly autumn evening in a summer state.
The Not so Good:
Disappointed with the Lela Rose and Robert Rodriguez clothing. Yes they are beautifully made, but with the Lela Rose dress she cut the backs narrow so that if you have boobs, the back doesn't zip up. I think because most models tend not to have bigger than a "A" or "B" cup she compensated for the hips but not the back of the tops and dress so the holes in the arms are uncomfortably narrow or not enough material to zip up.
With the Robert Rodriguez clothing, again beautifully made, but did not account for women who are not "all legs" and small torso. The torso of the bustier in the lace dress is about 4 inches too short for the average woman, and the elastic waist on the shirt is also about 4 inches to short making the ruffles in the front clownish. To carry off either of these you would need a long thin torso and again, no boobs or a really really small cup size.

Hahah I loved this post Tiffany! I too felt the same way about the Tory Burch items (both of which I had the full intent of purchasing until I got there). I ended up getting just the Proenza Schouler sweatshirt. Surprisingly super cute on! It seemed to run a bit "tighter" than I would've thought....should've gone for a size up for that "comfort" feel. Very happy with it.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you set-up the TR plates! Running out to grab the tray before they sell out now that everything's half off.
