After years of complete trial and error where foundations are concerned, I've found a few wonderful ones that work great for me. Since I'm pretty picky about foundations (and since my oily skin tends to make finding one that holds up and stays true even more difficult) I tend to stick with something once I find "the one".
Totally sounds like I'm talking about a serious relationship or something.
Foundations are serious business.
So I decided to create a little video (...ok a BIG 17-minute long video) talking about and showing my favorite (and some honorable mentions) foundations and concealers I've found that actually pass the test of all my picky-ness. That's totally a word.
Foundations and concealers mentioned in the video:
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ Foundation
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment
MAC Studio Finish concealer
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder
A few honorable mentions...
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Brightening Concealer
aaa.... i want to buy all your recommendations!

I know you said that you don't really like loose mineral makeup, but have you ever tried everyday minerals? Its at everydayminerals.com.I have super oily skin and the bare minerals would be sliding off my face by lunch time. Don't even get my started on breakouts. Then I did some research and this was my winner! I've been using it for a year and my skin has never looked or felt better. They even have free foundation samples with any purchase. Just please take a look. It really is worth a try. If nothing else you might find an amazing eyeshadow and get free foundation samples. Just please let me know if you decide to try it.

ReplyDeleteGreat info, thanks! I also have very oily skin and finally found a foundation I love, Loreal Paris True Match Naturale mineral makeup. I swear by it now, it's definitely a must have for me. I don't think I'll ever go back to liquid foundations :)
ReplyDeleteWhat shade of the Maybelline concealer do you use?

I think I've said this before, so sorry if I'm repeating myself. I'd really like to know what you think of Almay foundations, specifically Almay Blemish Healer Foundation. =)
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great video and a great blog :) I bought the Maybelline foundation today and I`m looking forward to try it on tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteIt`s so fun to watch all the good make up you can buy in drugstores in USA. We don`t have that in Norway and stuff is so much more expensive here.

I love this video thanks tiffany
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany, Have you tried the Mary Kay Time Wise Matte Liquid Foundation? If you would like a sample, I would love to send to you.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany,
ReplyDeleteDo you know if the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation is available in Canada??
Thanks!

So, I went all over my town in Mexico looking for the Neutrogena foundation... it's nowhere to be seen, that's SUCH a shame. Although, I did find the Maybelline Age Rewind foundation, I was trying it on as I re-watched the video and I don't dislike it one bit. Too bad the concealer hasn't arrived yet to Mexico but, at least I got one out of three. Tomorrow morning when I do my whole skin care routine I'm hoping I like it way more.
ReplyDeleteI have not had a chance to watch your video yet but I am really oily and have found my HG foundation. I love my Clinique Acne Solutions Foundation, it is great even though I do not have acne. I love how it has a great matte finish and controls my oil. It also heals a pimple or two when I get them during "that time of the month" Have you ever tried it. I actually work as a consultant at Clinique but have been using it since it came out even before I started to work there. LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteThis video was fab, as usual! Im surprised you didnt make any mention about the Benefit Powderflage. Is it b/c you comsider it a highlighter?
ReplyDeleteMy wife loved talking about foundations a few days ago until I found this blog that talks about foundation. Well, she's really happy watching the video and she's happy to learn something new on it as well. She's actually had taken a Texas Cosmetology continuing education then so she's really up to getting more about cosmetics.

I don't generally tend to wear foundation, but use BB Cream. However I do like the MUFE face and body foundation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review, I really want to check out the Maybelline set. =]
Great video, Tiffany! I've been looking for quite some time for a good under eye concealer. Now that I know you like the Maybelline concealer I will definitely give it a try. I am a middle age woman and have some fine lines under my eyes. Hopefully, this will help. My favorite foundation that doesn't feel thick but gives great coverage is Tarte ReCreate anti-aging foundation. I also have yellow undertones and the warm bisque is a great color for me. Check it out the next time you're in Ulta or Sephora and see what you think.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany. I am curious to know your application technique for the Maybelline Concealer. I've got one too and don't find it all that amazing just yet. I'd love to see how you apply it. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching this, I went out to a local drugstore to buy the 'Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup' ... not only did I find it, but they had my color and it was ON SALE! I thought "this is fate" and scooped it up. I just tested it, goes on so smooth. Stays true to the "instant" terminology. My skin instantly looked fresh and smooth... stressing the fresh part. Now I have not let it sit on my skin for very long, and weather is getting cooler here. So I wonder how it would do in hot/humid settings...
ReplyDeleteWhat shade of the Maybelline concealer do you use?
ReplyDeleteHi! I really liked the Maybelline foundation, can you please show how to properly aplly it, since it has the special applicator.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
(Ana from Portugal!)
I went out and got the Maybelline concealer (had to try 2 colors out..1st one was too light, 2nd was was perfect!)..and like you said, AWESOME concealer. AWESOME!!!!! I've been using Nars for awhile now b/c it's so moisturizing. But I got this and I layer a bit of Nars on top of this, and it still looks great..not cakey or anything. I haven't gotten any drugstore makeup in awhile (except for mascara b/c I love Maybelline's Full & Soft, plus I cannot justify buying $24 mascaras every 3 months), and this was a gem. I even told my sister about it (she's only 19..so concealer doesn't seem to matter to her yet). THANKS!!!
ReplyDeleteWoah, you have a lot of comments! So I didn't read them all to make sure no one said this already... forgive me.
ReplyDeleteI L.O.V.E! the Maybelline age rewind makeup line and wanted to let you know that the little sponge guy is made to come off if you don't want it. It's not glued on or anything and slips right off. That's how I use it and haven't had any problems :)
xox,
Laura
Hi Tiffany, just wanted to let you know I'm a big fan of your YouTube channel, and am so glad I've found your blog!! :) Do you use liquid mineral makeup? I'm looking for a good mineral foundation, cause my skin is super sensitive, but have no idea what brand to buy... I need something with light to medium coverage cause my skin is overall pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a little late viewing this video, but I've been SO frustrated with my foundation for way too long. I feel like I've tried everything in just about every shade of beige/light/medium/golden, etc. My skin tone is exactly the same as yours: my face is so much paler than my neck and the rest of my body, which has more yellow tones, whereas my face is more pink. I don't own a single foundation that matches without making my face look darker than my neck/rest of my body.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be looking into the Makeup Forever foundation you showed and will probably purchase the Neutrogena one until I can splurge a little on the other product.
Thank you SO much for this, I'm so happy I was able to find this video!!
xo
