The Perfect Red...

I've got to say, I've NEVER been a fan of red on nails- well, just not my nails. Don't know why, just never liked it. For some unexplainable reason I decided to try red again today. I grabbed my Zoya nail polish in Vanessa which came in my "Dare" sampler set. First of all, red can be super unforgiving around your cuticles so you have to be extra careful (as you can see in the picture). Also, there are so many different shades of red. So finding one that works for you can be a bit tricky in some cases. This one is more of a cooler, blue-toned red. The formula also really stood out to me. Not too thick, not too thin. It also applies very evenly. I can't say this about many nail polishes, but you can honestly get away with only one coat of this stuff. Loved it so much that I had to use it on my toes as well!
I think I've definitely found a new favorite...

  7. I too am enjoying Zoya nail polish. I like that they don't have the same icky chemicals as OPI. I like just about everything about them except I do prefer the color names of OPI so it is hard for me to switch completely because of that. How nuts is that! haha

  10. Did Zoya send you this? Can you please tell us when you get stuff sent for free? Sometimes we feel cheated.

  11. Anonymous-- cheated? I don't say whether I get stuff for free or not because to me, that's just saying that I'm not being honest and easily swayed.
It's not even an issue to me. It truly DOES NOT matter whether something is sent to me or bought, I'll give it a straight review either way. I don't talk about probably 70% of things I'm sent. Same as stuff I buy. I think by now, people and companies know that about me. I'm completely honest and not naive enough to just talk about stuff that was sent to me right away for the heck of it you know? I've had this polish for about 3 or 4 months at least and have never mentioned it or used it, so that should tell you something.
It's just never crossed my mind to mention becuase in my case it does not matter in the least and I'm not advertising anything-- I'm giving beauty advice and helping people out. I do this for you guys and myself, not companies. :)

  14. we value your opinions, that's why we watch, ignore anyone who can't see that.

  15. I appreciate the review on Zoya! I've been buying Zoya due to the low chemical formula, but find it oh, so hard to pick colors. What you see on their site is sometimes not what you get at home.

  16. Maybe it has something to do with Sigma? You gave those brushes a great review but you also have videos on their website. People want to know that you're affiliated with certain companies because they want to know they're watching/reading a fair review. That's why the new FTC regulations were put into place.
Bloggers were reviewing products made by companies who were giving them various freebies (like the products themselves or even trips). Some of those bloggers would give great ratings regardless of quality just to get more free stuff. I don't trust PurseBuzz's or Koran's reviews as much as I used to because of their obvious affiliation with Coastal Scents.
If someone is sending a blogger free stuff to review and they know they'll keep receiving free stuff if they give a glowing review (even if it's not so great), then why wouldn't they continue to do so? Makeup is expensive and addicts will get their fix however they can, lol.
I'm not calling you a liar or anything-I love your videos and blog. I've trusted you from day 1 and the thought that you're "cheating" us has never crossed my mind. I know you're fair. I'm just applying what I've thought of other bloggers recently. There's not a big stink about this for nothing.

  17. seriously, how the f*** do you feel cheated?????? It's not like she got a polish for free and then told you to go buy it! She's not even telling anyone to do anything, she is just reviewing a product she has. You can get it if you want, it doesn't matter whether she got it for free or not.

Personally, I cannot afford almost any of the stuff she reviews, but I still like to read them in case I do get a chance to purchase them. But it doesn't make me feel cheated! I honestly cannot understand how that word even got into this situation.

  18. you are only cheating yourself if you are gullible enough to go and buy everything anyone reviews. use your own common sense!!!

  19. I love your reviews and love how you tell exactly how you feel about the product.

I kind of understand the second anonymous post but don't at the same time because why would you want to keep getting free stuff from a crappy company that sell crappy product? it doesn't make sense to me.

Anywho keep doing your reviews exactly like you have been you're true followers won't care if it's free or not.

  20. i think im going to try it, i really like it. dont worry about the crap that people say, if they really knew what you were like they wouldnt be saying those things. your true fans know you <3

  23. hey girl, this has nothing to do with all of the above, but i just got some products at MAC. the holiday collection is out and i bought some mineralized eyeshadows. have u tried any of them? i wanted to know what ones you got and what you think of them. i feel that getting your view or opinion on things is like talking makeup with one of my girlfriends here in LA.
love your work and keep it up!

  24. Love your work Tiffany! Oh did you get any of the new Mac items from the Magic, Mirth and Mischief collection?

  25. Red polish is my favorite. My grandmother had long fingernails and she always wore Revlon Red nail polish. Maybe I get my love of red from her. I think I have more reds in my polish collection than any other color. It makes me feel good when I put it on. :)

  26. You may give positive reviews on only the stuff you like if you got it for free or if you bought it. BUT that doesnt mean all "gurus" on youtube do. Thats probably why that person mentioned it.

There are two sisters on youtube specifically who brought all this drama to the youtube beauty community in the first place. The reason is because it has now been proven that they get PAID by companies to do a review but then they turn around and LIE to their subscribers and say "Ive never been paid!"

I think thats why peopl eare becoming a little skeptical of everyone. Its too bad a few bad apples had to ruin it for everyone but thats the way it goes I guess.

Also as a consumer, people do have the right to know if you got something for free or even were paid by a company for a review. Thats why the FTC has made it mandatory or face an $11 000 fine, come Dec 1 2009 for all bloggers, youtubers etc to mention each and every time they get a free product or payment. Its that big of an issue.

I know you "don't get it" but like I said before its because of the shady people that ruin it for everyone else.

For example, if you were reading a review in a newspaper on 2 movies and you knew one movie paid the reviewer for their review and the other one didnt and LO AND BEHOLD the movie that the reviewer recommends is the same movie that paid them for the review. Would you trust that review????
What if you had no idea they were paid for the review?? Wouldnt you feel that as a consumer you have the right to know before making any purchasing decisions???

The people who lie in their reviews and about if they got a product free or even paid to mention it are the ones to blame. Nobody else.

  29. 'Anonymous' if my two sisters you mean AllThatGlitters21 and JuicyStar07 then please um, shut up. They are amazing gurus, just like Tiffany. If you were being sent things for free, I'm sure you wouldn't complain. So why are you being hypocritical and saying it's not fair? Just deal with it.
