I often get asked the same questions over and over. I love answering your questions, but my fingers get tired! :) They're very random, but like I said, these are my most frequently asked! A section for my most frequently asked beauty/makeup-related questions is also included at the bottom.
Q's about me:
1. What type of camera do you use?
Since the very first video, I've always used my trusty Sony Cybershot DSC-W120. For a little simple point-and-shoot camera, it does a great job! (It's pink, so I think that makes a difference!) I'm going to be purchasing a new one soon. I really need a new one with a little better quality and with an LCD screen that flips around so I can see what the heck I'm doing! :)
2. Where did you get your training/what makeup school did you go to?
I'm totally self-taught. Lots of practice and a love for makeup. I'm really not familar with any makeup schools or training programs to recommend either. I do attend MAC Master classes/seminars when I can though!
3. I'm thinking about starting my own YT beauty channel. Advice?
Make the videos you want to make and don't be influenced by others or negativity. Share what you know, what you like, and focus on your viewers, no matter how few or many you have. Stay positive, have fun, and don't pay any attention to anything negative others have to say. It's so fun and rewarding!
4. How did your channel grow so fast?
I have NO idea! I've just always had fun and enjoyed myself. I never set out to make videos for the purpose of having a popular channel. I just genuinely like sharing what I know with you guys and it's awesome that people actually like what I'm doing! I'm overwhelmed by the amount of people that watch and how nice everyone has been.
5. Why do you make videos in a closet??
Oh this is probably THE MOST asked question in some form or another. We have a large walk-in closet and my vanity table is in there. :)
6. What program do you use to edit your videos?
I use Windows Movie Maker. It's super easy, and comes standard on pretty much every pc I believe.
7. Are your eye lashes naturally long? Do you get lash extensions or use any kind of special product? I know you're wearing false lashes in (random video)...why did you say you weren't?
I've been getting this since I was little!! Honestly, you guys know that if I'm wearing false lashes in a video, I always tell you. I've never tried any type of lash extensions nor have I ever used any "magic" lash growth product. I do put Vaseline on them at night sometimes, but not often. I got lucky with my genes I guess! :)
Beauty/Makeup Related Q's:
1. 88 palettes...Original (matte/satin) or Shimmer?
Oh I cannot tell you how many times this question has been asked! My personal preference is the Original (matte/satin). Just because I feel it's most versatile. It has both matte and satin colors (which have a bit of a sheen), so you can create more looks with it. Whereas with the Shimmer, it's JUST shimmer. Both are great together, but I'd recommend getting the Original first.
2. What is a Beauty Powder? Whats the difference in that and Beauty Powder Blushes?
Beauty Powders are much more sheer than the BPB's. The colors are usually lighter and softer-toned and can be worn a variety of ways. You can use them as an all over glow to lightly set makeup, or you can concentrate the color on your cheeks as a blush. They really don't seem to be that pigmented when swatched, but they're really not supposed to be. Think of them as a product that adds a sheer glow or different tone to the face. To slightly make your complexion appear healthier. They are the size of the bronzing powders or pressed face powders.
Beauty Powder Blushes are actual powder blushes that are very pigmented and have a slight sheen or satin finish to them.
3. How do you remove your makeup?
I love using a makeup remover wipe to remove everything. That way I can use one thing for my whole face - eyes and all. My personal favorites are the MAC Wipes. However, Neutrogena makes some good ones as well. After removing makeup, you can then wash your face with the facial cleanser you prefer. Don't throw away the wipe just yet - if you find you have any leftover mascara or liner under your eyes after you rinse your face, you can go back over those areas with the wipe.

It was very nice of you to take the time and post FAQ's. Although, some of the questions people asked were rude. Your lashes are gorgeous! I would have never asked if they were fake. Does it matter? Everyone's lashes are different and you're right, good genes is verdict here!

Do you use any special setting on your camera when taking pictures? I have tried turning off the flash, using the "close up" setting, either way it always washes out the color. Suggestionss?

I love your blog and your videos and I would really like to see a post/video about when to toss makeup. I know there are guidelines but I feel most people don't throw away makeup that still seems ok. It would be especially interesting because, I feel, with all that's going on on youtube (haul videos etc.), your normal makeup user will never be able to use up all the makeup they have, let alone use it up within the expiration date. Maybe you could talk about that one day, that would be great!

I have been watching many of your tutorials and love all of the looks. I was wondering what you consider to be your must-have eye colours. I am just starting to build my collection (most of what I have is MAC) and was wondering what colours I should definately have? Greetings from Singapore!:) I've just seen both your reviews on Sigma's professional 12 piece brush kit, and Sigma's (6+1 piece) travel kit.
I've heard that travel kits don't exactly work the same as pro kits, simply because the handles are shorter, so balance in make up application is more difficult.
As someone looking for a solid first kit, which would you recommend getting?

I'd like to throw out a request for a tutorial for a very subtle, natural eye look for the day time. Something with just very subtle neutral colours that's fairly quick and good for the office, everyday, etc. (might also be good for the more conservative woman, who's either not into wearing lots of colour, or is just getting into makeup and might be a bit nervous still with colour).

Can you ever show your viewers your whole make-up collections and how you have it stored? I'm dying to see all the stuff you have! You seem so neat with everything, from applying make-up and the way you present yourself. I've seen make-up videos and people just seem so sloppy! Ewwww! Not you and that's why I love your videos!!! Love all of your tutorials and I think that you are a beyond talented makeup artist! I was wondering what your thoughts on the new coastal scents 88 warm palette are?? When taking a look at the palette it seems very similar to a lot of MAC’s browns, plums, and highlighter shades. It's time for me to replace my makeup and with the economy the way it is I can’t really afford to buy a lot of new MAC eyeshadows. I stick mostly to browns and plums so I am thinking this new palette might be a good investment for me. Look forward to hearing your thoughts, thank you :)

I do love the MAC wipes but it can be expensive as it does not last long, I use baby wipes unscented for sensitive skin to remove makeup. They're also great to clean excess makeup:)

I have been searching everywhere for this palette, even on ebay and one was just sold last month..I know that carbon and satin taupe are part of the MAC permanent eyeshadow line. Can u suggest what colors from the permanent line match the colors in the palette??

Your eye lashes are beautiful! Ive gotten accused sooo many times of wearing false lashes and I usually just smile, say no, and take it as a complement. I love all your vids and think they are uber great. I love make up and only wish i was half as good as you. I know you say you are self taught but whats a average work day to you? Do you work in a salon or you mobile? Random i kno,lol. You seem to have hundreds of products, half your salary must go on cosmetics. CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW, HOW YOU PUT FAKE EYELASHES ON?
THEY EITHER NEVER STAY ON LONG OR I GET MORE GLUE ON MY FINGERS THAN ON MY EYELID. THE FAKE LASHES ALWAYS LOOK LIKE THEY STICK TOGETHER WHEN I PUT THEM ON. THEN I CAN THROW THEM OUT BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER LOOK LIKE NEW. ALSO, HAVE A HARD TIME PLACING THEM VERY CLOSE TO MY NATURAL LASHES.
