MAC Lightful Deep Ultramoisture Creme : REVIEW

Lightweight, gel-like cream. Provides a moisture-locking barrier for long-lasting protection. Instantly hydrates the skin for a smoother skin surface, and helps it look more luminous over time. -maccosmetics.com

Since I'm not usually a fan of MAC's skincare products, I was a little skeptical. I've been using this for 5 days, twice a day, and bottom line...this moisturizer is amazing. From the first time I used it, I knew it was something I was going to love and I could not WAIT to share how amazing it was. But since it's a skin care product, I knew I needed to give it at least a week or two. Well, it's been 5 days, and I can't contain my love for this any longer. I'm probably the pickiest person alive when it comes to moisturizers. Espeically ones I wear during the day. I hate having that sticky or oily feeling on my face after applying a moisturizer. To me, that just means my skin didn't use it all and the rest is sitting on top of my face. This moisturizer sinks right in and really makes my skin feel comfortable without the "unused" icky layer atop my face. Although it disappears, it makes my skin feel comfortable and deeply moisturized. It feels like a gel-cream. If you've used Clinique Moisturesurge moisturizer, this is very comparable...but better. I used to use the Clinique Moisturesurge religiously. The MAC Lightful is better because it magically sinks in without the greasy after feel that the Clinique could sometimes have.
Because of the clean, smooth effect it leaves behind, it's perfect under makeup. I haven't noticed my skin looking any more "luminous" as it claims, but it has only been 5 days. It also has a really nice fresh smell.
Bottom line: If you have very dry skin, you may need more of a cream product that is a little more moisturizing. However, I think this is perfect for those with normal, combination, or oily skin types to use morning or night...or both, like I do.

  1. Thanks for the review Tiffany! =) Been wondering how this product is (since the re-packing).
Btw, did you get a chance to try out the essence as well? Looks promising.

  3. Hi Tiffany! Thank you for this review. I'm very interested in this product since I use Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and Moisture Surge by Clinique every day and I'm a big fan of the gel-like formula. I'm wondering though, since you've used Moisture Surge and I'm sure you know that it's supposed to be applied after moisturizer, is MAC's Lightful the same or is it an actual moisturizer? Thanks!

  4. I got a sample of the moisturelush eye and face and I love those. I have very dry skin, and most things burn so I wanted to give it a test drive. So far it's wonderful. I wanted to try this, too. Thanks for the review!

  5. Tiffany, can you suggest a good eye cream? I've never had a problem before, but recently my eyelids are dried out and wrinkling. I even have a red, irritated spot starting near my nose, under the eyebrow. Weirdness! I've been using a Lancome eyecream (Absolu) but it stings when I put it on. That can't be good.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the dryness is caused by my primer potion. :\

    Help!

  6. Vicky- Nope, I didn't try the Essence, but it looks like it would be great :)

Madison- From what I know, I believe this is going to be permanent. It doesn't have the LE triangle on the MAC website which is always good!

Bebi-dol- I've always used the Clinique Moisture Surge as my moisturizer...just because on my skin, moisturizer and that is way too heavy. I feel that this would be sufficient on it's own for oily or even combination skin.

Aimee- Try the Garnier Nutritioniste eye cream. It's in a tube. It's my favorite eye cream!

  7. if it's not too much trouble, could you list the ingredients? i just bought the Dior Hydraction Creme Sorbet which sounds really similar to this and if it's got the same stuff then I'm totally buyin this since its much cheaper! TIA!

  9. hey tiffany!
Thanks for doing this review, i was wondering i have an oily T-zone and i notice that the Clinque moisture surge was Great for me when it was freezeing cold. Now that its getting warmer my t-zone is showing up again. I've tried so many things that are oil-free, but still no help. Would u say this Mac creme would be more moisturerizing (oily by the end of the day) than the clinque?

  10. Great review! I found your page through your youtube.com coastel scents 88 palette review. Strange question but I was wondering what flourescent light/mirror do you use in your videos that leaves a circle/ring in your eye? Thanks

  11. I'm so glad you posted this review. I was skeptical about the MAC skin care as well, and this might just push me to try it! I swear, I think you and I have the same skin issues, as everything you've suggested that works on your skin type, is a God-send for me. Thanks!

  12. I'm so glad you posted dupes. I don't always catch the LE promotions so it's good to know what can be used as a substitute.
    Thaks!

  13. Hi Tiffany! I know it's been quite long since this post was up. I am just wondering are you still using this product? I always have difficulty finding the right moisturizer. The ones I have tried are either too rich or they make my skin dry. I think I have a combination skin type. And did this product did any improvement to your skin after you use it for a longer time? (:

Oh and seriously, all your tutorials are amazing! I am definitely gonna save money on some of the MAC products! ;)

    Cheers,
    Orange
